Herbert Enders founded the company in 1922 under the name, "Drechslerei Dietmar Ender." (Modernly known as, "Kunstgewerbe".)
Rudolph Enders (Future owner of Kunstgewerbe) helped his father, John Enders with carpenter work which resulted in him learning the trade of a carpenter. In 1916, he was drafted into the first World War for Germany, soon after in 1927 he was working under his brother (Herbert Enders) as toymaker and in 1932 he took over the family business.
In the spring of 2006, Uwe Klunge took over the company with all rights to the D. Enders samples.
